I'm more and more convinced that the Democrats need to present a world that's less terrifying than the Republican world. Leiberman is right in that no-one is going to win if they don't make folks feel safe. We need someone who will deliver us from terror, not just stand gaurd looking scared. We need leaderhsip that believes the war on terror can be won; and offer an alternative to perpetual. We need a leader who believes in something other than a slowly escallating genocide where we invade someone everytime we feel a little jumpy. I offer to you, dear reader, four talking points for '04:

1. George Bush is a leader alright, he's lead us straight into terror, and debt. Where is Osama? Where is Saddam? Where are 2.7 million jobs?
I want a leader who will let me sleep soundly at night. Even if you accept that these things are not his fault; maybe it's just time to pick someone a little more lucky. I'm reminded of a friend for whom nothing ever goes quite right. I love this guy like a brother; but I wouldn't give him my bank account and send him to Vegas. I have another friend for whom everything just turns out ok. The Presidency is a like a moon shot. All things being equal; I say we pick a luckier man.

2. I believe in the second coming but I see no reason to help it along. 9-11 wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't even the begining of the end of the world. We need leadership that lets us get on with our lives. We need leadership that can guard us from our enemies while we go to work; raise families; and enjoy our prosperity.

3. Harry Truman said the buck stops in the Oval Office. Why is it during the '00 campaign George Bush promised us the responsiblity era, but now everything is someone else's fault? Bad economy, it's Clinton's fault; living in fear, blame Osama and Saddam; I refuse to believe in a world where a $400 Billion military budget can't keep us safe from 15 guys and a couple of 747s. Someone must offer an alternative to a color chart of how scared we are today. 9-11 was a wake up call that we need to raise our gaurd, but it was not proof that we could never be safe again.

4. We can win the war against terror; our current enemies are the Bush league villians. The United States is the New York Yankees. The right kind of leadership can deliver us from evil. We defeated Hitler and the Communists; we can defeat the junior league of Osama and the fundementalists.
