Another great article on Iraq. Everyone gets it now except for Bush; who still sees this as some simple conflict that should be reduced to a big moral picture. Recently I have come to a point in my life where I've started throwing out my cheap furninture, and buying decent stuff that lasts for more than 10 months without falling apart. I've bought a house and gotten married. I've realized, hey, John you're 30 years old; it's time to put away the comic books and grow up; and it's not a bad thing either. I find I rather like being an adult. I was thinking about my furniture, and it occured to me; this is the (cheap sweedish furniture maker's name withheld) President. He looks great when you get him home from the store; and you think you've saved all this money; but 6 months later; it falls apart. I dub him boy George, the kindergarten President. Too busy playing GI Joe to notice that more Americans have now died after major combat operations ended. When Dukakis got on the tank in 88 he looked ridiculous; like grown man playing with a toy who knows everyone is watching him. When Bush landed on the carrier in his jumpsuit he lacked the awkward inhibition that comes with age; because he has never grown up.

What will be telling in the next few months is if Bush tries to run from the responsiblity of this mess he's created. Will he blame Rummy for bad advice? Will he try to bring in Baker to straighten things out? I think he'll find it hard to call daddy's freinds to bail out again after fixing his failing company; saving him from the SEC; hiding him from the draft; or building his failing baseball team a new stadium. They can't come help him anymore because when you are commander in chief; the buck stops at your solid oak desk. It is my belief that most people spend their lives repeating their habbits until forced to change. Clinton spent his whole life moving from affiar to affair; getting caught, and appologizing; then one day he got caught and he couldn't come clean. He was cornered and it almost destroyed him. Bush has caught himself in a similiar trap of habbit; but the stakes arn't just his Presdiency; they are our republic.
