Bush is going down.
1. UPI: Cheney's Cheif of Staff may be indited.
2. Rove is sending Bush to Russert on Sunday. Either this will be a softball interview the DNC will spin into an attack on Russert; or Russert will eject on bush and go hard with his trademark "Gotcha". I believe Russert loves to be the kingmaker; if he believes Bush is going down;
3. Roy Moore, the Ten Commandments Judge is considering running as an independant. This will either push Bush uncomfrotably right on abortion; gay marriage; and a hole host of social issues.
4. The AWOL story has legs.(finally)
5. Republicans are cancelling primaries in hopes of preventing an embarassment.

Now I'm probably wrong, and this may blow over by the election. I believe that the conservative political coalition that runs this country is much less unified than the discipline in their ranks would indicate. I believe they backed Bush in 00 because they desperatly wanted the Presidency; and believed that their narrow interest would receive the reward when they put Bush up. Neocons definatly got what they wanted, Norquist got what he wanted; as did the evangelicals. But now we are faced with the problem that you can't do all these things at once. Their interests are no longer aligned. Evangecals want money for faith based intitiatives; but where is the money going to come from more debt?. Norquist has his tax cuts; but now he wants smaller government; but you can't have smaller government if you have a giant war. Neocons have Iraq; but this isn't really helping the general Republican cause.

Key indicators: 1. There are congressional races in South Dakota and Kentucky. If these go the Dems way; that will be an early test of Bush in these states. Right now the Dems are leading. 2. Watch for Finger pointing between conservative commontators. 3. A major resignation such as Cheney's cheif of staff; or some other high ranking official.
