I had to give up blogging for a while after the election. I was just too tired out.

After a long hiatus I'm back for more rants. To clear the decks let me exposeupon three topics.

Topic 1: Our mother Anglican Church.
If we are out of the ACC; can we join the Big East? Maybe we can hope for the at large bid to the tournement; or at least the NIT. I've recently been attending the local Unitarian church, they are thinking of splitting over the fact that too many members of the ministerial commitee beleive in a God. See now that's a proper schism. None of this nonsense about closeted gay bishop condeming ordination of openly gay bishiop. None of this church splits over molesting preist who people yet found none-the-less very likeable.

Topic 2: Social Security.
I already have a 401k, and a IRA; why do I need another private account? The last time we "fixed" social security in the 1980s we just ended up borrowing more money. About 30 years ago this was the country that by popular will re-elected Nixon. 30 years ago we collectivly decided that the leisure suite was high fashion. 30 years ago we had serious doubts about the long term notion of petrolium so we started buying suv's which burned more gas; rather than shifting our economy over. So your telling me that in 30 years from today the decisions we make are going to look less stupid? I say we are still that dumb. Lets try to fix the big problems we have today like "quagmire in the middle east", "terrorism", or "big budget deficit", and leave the 30 year from now things until they are a bit more pressing.

Topic 3: Where are the Republicans when you need them.
My local property tax bill has gone to the moon in the last 3 years; in conjuction with the assessed value of my house. What I don't understand is how the county which used to get by with $10-$20 / household increases / year suddenly needs $600/year more in revenue per household. You'd think this simple logic would be enough to breath a little life into the local Republican party; but no the one time in my life when I actually want the GOP to do something they disapear. Its a red state maybe the legislature could do something but alas they are too busy in Richmond (our state capital) trying to figure out how to ban lowrider jeans and public thong displays.
